Scattered across the prairies are tiny cemeteries that bear witness to the love, dedication, work and sacrifices made by those pioneers from Ukraine, Russia, and Romania who sought a new life in a new land. One such cemetery is at St. Nicholas in Narol.
In order to have a list of our founders, and to provide information to those doing genealogical research, the following list is of our departed founders was composed. Some of the names have been transliterated into English from Cyrilic, and as such might be subject to different spelling in legal, federal, or provincial documentation (eg. Prigorski/Prygorski), as well some names have been anglicized from their original Slavic form (eg. Rybarchuk/Rebeck). Where there is a blank, it is because the dating or name is unreadable.
It is a profound blessing that we at St. Nicholas care for those pioneers who founded St. Nicholas some 100 years ago, through prayer and memorials offered through out year, and the upkeep and maintenance of the cemetery.
