This past weekend I had the honour to be in Moose Jaw Saskatchewan with Fr. John Bingham and Matushka Jary, for Holy Trinity’s hundredth Anniversary. They are not many Orthodox Churches in Canada that have a heritage of a hundred years, but even fewer (two) communities that have an active pastoral and liturgical life in English, on the new calendar. Holy Trinity, like our St. Nicholas bears witness to the work of the Holy Spirit, that has being poured out for us, and has blessed this culture with our Churches presence. Helping it grow roots in this culture, with its generations. And helping it baptize this culture with the proclamation that “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever” (Heb. 13:8). In the same way a small group of Ukrainian and Romanian immigrants bore witness to the work of the Holy Trinity in 1913 with the establishment of this community, a small group of third generation Canadians and converts continue this same witness and work today.
May the Lord grant rest eternal and blessed repose, to all those who in faith gave everything to establish this community, and insure its health, throughout its 100 years.
May the Lord grant peace, safety, health, and length of days, to all those who serve the Lord in this community, and meet together in Thanksgiving for the saving love and mercy of the Lord!!!
